Ouch. In a stunning display of brotherly kindness, John broke Nathan's arm a week ago today. It began as a mere wrestling match between the two and escalated into a 7 hour visit to the emergency room. Maybe we should rename them Napoleon and Kip. "Break the wrist (or in this case, the ulna and radius) and walk away."
How could this happen--even at the Doxeys you might ask? The short answer, very easily. The long, Nate's hand was on the carpet and his elbow on the front of the sofa. John was "resting" on the couch and rolled off onto Nathan's arm and sat on it...crrrruuunnnch.
Church Christmas Party. At our Church all the children put on an incredible reenactment of Luke Chapter 2. Nate and John were two of the three wisemen. Lest you be thinking they just brought their lava lamp and a peuter vase for fun, those are actually supposed to be frankincense and myrrh. If you're wondering where you can get such incredible crowns, stop wondering. We made them.
Oh yeah, and all those other kids you see in the picture...supporting cast. Apparently there were A LOT of sheperds and just as many angels. Liza and Julia played the piano for all. Chaotic fun.
Santa was there, and Nate and John were pleading their case.
Ahh The Girls. I now know why those who only have girls in their family have their jaws hit the floor when they realize how chaotic our house can be.
Liza and Caroline are so sweet and nice, where Nate and John can be rough, mean, and inconsiderate but most of the time are really good boys (as long as they don't get hungry or tired). Here are Liza and Caroline in their Christmas dresses. I'm finally starting to understand f-stops and why to shoot Christmas lights starting at 400 ISO with no flash and the timer rather than my finger. So much to learn. Now if I could borrow back all the parts to my tripod (which have been kifed by one of the kids) I'd be set.
Amid sheer chaos, Caroline is just blossoming before our eyes. Today she sat up for the first time. She is mellow, happy, tolerant, durable, healthy and cute--a major, calming blessing in our lives.
On that note, we are so blessed--and we don't take the happiness we feel for granted. Even though there are "those" days, we're living the dream and we know it. Especially in this Christmas season, there are so many reasons to thank the Lord in our lives.
Merry Christmas!

Awwwhhh!!! Love it! You Doxeys are the greatest. Can't wait to see you all.
Merry Christmas!!
Hugs and kisses to everyone !
Caroline has changed so much in just a few weeks.
The girls look beautiful in their dresses! Sorry to hear about your sons hand -- crazy how kids can do all sorts of ninja things and not get hurt and then get hurt innocently rolling off the couch! Merry Christmas to you all!
HOLY COW! You guys are hilarious! We all got a good chuckle standing around the computer reading this one... poor Nathan.. hope your arm heals fast! The girls look darling! Can't wait to see you guys in just a few short days! YEA! Merry Christmas!
Oh poor Nate. That's a great break! How did John react to all of it? The girls look beautiful- good shot. We'll miss you guys this Christmas.
After spending 7 hrs in the emergency room and seeing Nate all propped up and imobile, John was wondering why Nate got to stay home from school and he didn't. They're both really into justice for all right now...equal rights for kids and parents. It's a tide we're trying to push back.
WOW!! Nothing like a good "Horsin' around!" Bummer of a day Nathan! It's all good though--think of the attention!! The girls look so cute. We can't wait to see you guys!
We love you guys! Hope you are having a great holiday!
What a great post! You manage to pack it all in with each entry---I'm impressed! Poor Nate and his broken bones! That looks like a nasty break. Oddly enough, Emma is the one who has broken her arm (twice, in the same spot!) and neither of the boys (knock on wood) have!
P.S. Your girls look adorable, charming, and all-around heavenly. I miss those days when it was just Emma and we had a perfect parenting future in our view. :-)
